Little Cubs
12 months - 2 years by September 1 of the current school year
Your 'little cub' will enjoy a short, half day program ending the day at 1pm. During this time children will begin developing social emotional skills and be challenged at their own level. Children will stay with the same teacher and friends during this time. They will have free play, visit the art studio and our garden, which is the outdoor play area. Your child will enjoy songs and stories with their class, as well learn new skills through music & movement. This age group loves to get messy and explore through sensory fun. Children will begin the basic academics while learning through play.
For those that stay on for the afternoon, your little cub will enjoy a cozy nap with friends between the hours of 1:15-3:30 in the Little Cubs Cave program.
Naptimes will vary based on each child. We provide the comfort of darkening shades, white noise machines and calming essential oils. Our staff will rock, pat and soothe your child as needed to help them fall asleep. All you have to do is provide a small cozy mat and blanket for them to sleep with. Once they are awake, receive a diaper change and healthy snack, they will learn through a series of books, visuals, sensory bins and songs; time permitting. Children are able to sleep until 3:30 at the latest. This gives us enough time to get them cleaned up and ready to go home. Milk is not provided. Please continue to bring milk, if your little one needs it before nap or during lunch time.
** Melrose will provide a healthy organic snack every afternoon for your child.
Hedgehogs
3 years - Pre-K
Your 3-4 year old will join us for a half day of fun and learning. Melrose prepares children for Kindergarten by challenging them through a variety of hands-on activities. Children will learn letters and numbers without using worksheets or flashcards. They will visit the garden, have free play and sit for a story daily. Critical thinking skills will be developed during this time, as well as the development of social-emotional learning. During this program they will have the chance to visit the art studio a few times a week. Children will stay with the same teacher and students during this morning session.
For those that stay on for the afternoon in Huck’s Clubhouse, your child will discover the world around them. Children will continue to pick the topic of discussion and keep with our Reggio Emilia curriculum. The best part about this Club is that children will keep a journal and earn badges for the work that is completed. Their teacher will have a list of activities/projects for them to complete that are related to the topic. It will be a big adventure for children to earn a badge after the completion of the activities. Children will keep track in their journals of all the awesome activities. They will receive either a vest or sash where they will proudly attach their badge after completion!
** Melrose will provide a healthy organic snack every afternoon for your child.
